This body of work came about after I realised how much time I spent adoring the Native Hibiscus floating on and around the Tweed River. These moments of observation and connection sparked a creative journey exploring these natural elements through a mixed-media approach.
What fascinates me about the work is how each painting has come forward with her own personality as part of the hibiscus family. Each piece emerging with a distinct character and presence. It has been suggested the series may be appreciated more as a collection of portraits rather than a series of floral paintings.
